I stopped at a couple of stores along the freeway in Tupelo and asked where to go to get some good fat man food. Romie's was the place to go and they were right. I got the chicken bacon Swiss sandwich, mashed potatoes with gravy, mac&cheese, snickers cake and sweet tea for lunch. Then I ordered the prime rib sandwich to go. The food was well worth the stop. Perfect portions and omg the tea could put you in a diabetic coma, and that's how I like it. Staff was attentive, friendly and expedient. I don’t normally leave reviews, but after experiencing three separate issues at Romie's Grocery, I feel compelled to share my experience. First visit: My Sprite had brown particles floating in it. I called and was told someone would bring a replacement to my car — no one did. I had to go inside myself and leave the contaminated drink on the bar. Second visit: I recommended Romie’s to my pregnant coworker, and it turned into a bad experience for both of us. My veggie plate was a complete mess and so sloppy that I couldn’t eat it. Just moved into the area and was excited to try out lunch. The fried chicken was cold. Mashed potatoes were barley warm, coleslaw was fine. Deviled eggs were great. My husbands Meatloaf was all crumbled up on the plate. Disappointed. I would guess the staff cook all the food prior to the lunch shift, and servers just plate up the food and bring to the table.
