Came here on a Friday morning and loved it. Such a classic NYC bakery, it’s been around since 1916 and you can tell. The baked goods were fresh, quality was great, and the whole place just has a really lovely feel to it. Perfect spot before a Central Park walk too, which is basically right on your doorstep. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Was excited to try this place after seeing it featured on a television program a few months back. Thought I'd give it a try while I was in town this time and stop in for an early breakfast and some coffee. I went with the classic everything bagel with cream cheese, lox, onion and herbs. The bagel had a nice chew to it and was generously coated in everything seasoning. And the toppings, while a little on the lighter side, were all fresh. Local doesn’t necessarily mean good—I was excited to try this place after a good experience getting a cookie at their UES location. This time I got their “Piglet” (egg ham cheese) bagel. The bagel itself was good, but the egg was pre-made and hard, cheese was warm not melted, and there was nothing spread on the bagel so overall it was so dry. The bar seating was also chaotic and cramped by the register. I also tried their glazed donut (good texture but quite oily tasting) and chocolate babka (would get again to enjoy at home).

My go to for a bagel whenever I’m in the city. Great “bite”, delicious flavor, and a nice spot to sit and enjoy - inside or out. Other great looking baked goods as well.
