Had a fantastic meal at The Metz in Launceston. 4.5 stars - The Garlic Pizza and Lamb Pizza were top notch. Thoroughly enjoyed the garden salad side along with a bottle of Frankie Sav Blanc. The staff are amazing here, we were well looked after and their recommendations were excellent.

The food was absolutely delicious. We were told to try the signature dish of calamari and it was the best calamari I’ve ever eaten. My husband had the seafood chowder and said it was a a good as what we ate in USA. The place is beautifully decorated and has a lovely ambiance. The lemon cocktail I had was superb. We decided to try dessert and it was fantastic.

Is this Tasmania’s best pizza? As a huge pizza snob, I know what good pizza is, and in short, this is far better than D’Angelos in Hobart, rated in the top 10 pizza restaurants in Australia. The dough was perfectly crispy; yet floppy. The topping (Lambardo) was plentiful but not exhaustive. It was light, flavourful and perfectly balanced as all things should be. But that base.
