Exter is a gastropub that has a cozy beer garden/terrace area. It's located next to the beautiful Boekenbergpark, so you have a scenic view if you're eating outdoors. We had the Exter burger and stoofvlees. The portions were perfect; however, I was surprised no extra sauce (ketchup or something similar) was not served with the burger. Although the meal was great and affordable, the best thing about Exter is the ambiance: chill out music and a warm atmosphere. Interesting place with decent food and correct price. I was a bit surprised I didn't get to choose how I wanted my burger to be cooked. And when I asked I was told that that wasn't an option. The fries have a funny shape. As this was my first visit, I cannot say if they always are like this.

A lovely place for a drink with a wonderful atmosphere both indoors and out. There's a reason why a number of locals come here often (including myself). The only problem is that each time I have visited, the food menu has gradually increased in price 20 cents each time on my favourite meal which has risen from 16.30 at the beginning of 2021 to 17.50 at the end of 2022. This would be ok given the increased cost of living but the last time I went my lasagne was cold in the middle meaning it was frozen and not left in the oven long enough.
