There is something about Burnaby Mountain that keeps pulling me back up the hill at odd hours and odd seasons, and eating somewhere up there carries a little of that thin-air, edge-of-campus strangeness with it. This pho joint somehow bottles the student energy of the area, and I cannot fully explain the mechanism, it just does it. The house special pho was solid. Broth that managed flavourful and light at the same time. Solid all around. Beef stew is my personal benchmark in any Vietnamese spot, the dish I quietly judge everyone by and this one did not crack my top three. That is not an accus

This is a convenient spot to visit when you are at SFU, with a great location close to both the bus station and parking lot. One highlight is that the restaurant offers no-MSG dishes, which is a plus. The pho was tasty, but the portion size was smaller than what you typically get elsewhere, even though the price was similar and I ordered a large bowl. The bun rieu was quite different from the traditional Vietnamese version. It felt more like a mix between bun bo and a seafood soup rather than authentic bun rieu. That said, the flavor was still enjoyable.

I'd passed by this restaurant many times, and today I decided to give it a try. I was recommended the rib oxtail pho, and surprisingly, the bowl was much larger than the picture on the menu. Authentic Vietnamese Pho rich and flavorful broth, the staff friendly. So satisfied and will come back to try more.
