Stopped by Blauer Esel restaurant during my stay in Rostock and honestly it felt very local and relaxed. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere and good German dishes without being too heavy. Nice place to warm up after a cold walk by the harbour. Would come back again.

We were surprised by the elevated quality of the food for a good price, after spontaneously remarking the restaurant during a stroll through the city center. Luckily we got a table without a reservation in a restaurant that combines historical and classic interior with a cozy and modern style. The kitchen makes use of typical regional ingredients in a delicious and satisfying way. The only disappointment that could be spotted was the frantic, but nonetheless friendly service which did not take any time to introduce themselfes nor the restaurant nor gave they any explanation of the well presen
