The restaurant features gorgeous decor and a wonderful ambiance. While service was a bit slow despite the dining room being fairly empty, the food more than made up for it. Every dish was delicious, but the chicken jallof rice stole the show. It was so flavorful we wanted to go back the very next day! The fish and chips was a close runner up. Pricing is incredibly reasonable, too.

A Perfect Final Meal in Kenya at Slate Restaurant My sister and I ended our trip to Kenya with a wonderful meal at Slate Restaurant, conveniently located inside Skynest Residences, directly across from the reception area. It was the perfect way to wrap up our visit. I ordered the sweet potato sushi with tofu along with a shrimp sushi dish (I can’t remember the name), and both were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The food was excellent, and the drinks were just as enjoyable. This was actually my sister’s second time ordering from Slate, which speaks to the consistency and quality of the restaurant. The atmosphere is modern, relaxed, and inviting, making it a great place to unwind. As our last meal before leaving Kenya, it was a memorable dining experience and a wonderful way to end our trip. We’d gladly return the next time we’re in Nairobi.

We came here after hitting a few spots in town and wanted to see the newest we heard of on the market. My take : beautiful decor, missing some warmth. Needs some plants or natural elements like warmer rugs or woven fibers to give it a personality to connect to, decor working too hard and feels a bit sterile. The food : needs some work - the French onion soup just tasted like burned bread, it was black charred and had a very bad taste to it. The calamari is a stand out and the tuna tartare was just ok, it needed something to elevate its profile and make it unique. The burrata was just ok, bread was strangely soggy and not enough artichokes to call it an artichoke burrata. The drinks : the lady 75 was horrible and I had to order a new drunks. I went with the margarita and while both drinks came in a nice glass, they awkwardly came with huge black straws. Very strange. The restaurant is supposed to be fine dining. Was quiet empty on a week day evening, but might be reservation basis when busy. The waiters were friendly and quick to serve. I went for beef burger which was amazing and light despite the big size, i am planning to get it again. The steak was also great, but the coconut rice was a bit disappointing. Drinks were great too. Prices on the higher side

The only decent thing was the service and the pisco sour. We've dined at many places in Nairobi and it has been an experience. But this place has a lot to improve if they want to be relevant. My wife's shrimp and coconut soup was overly salted, the explanation we got was worse than the crime. The burger was average. It was more of a caramelized onion burger than anything. I hate that I have to say these things but we were so let down.
