A fantastic experience! Beta was able to do a vegan/plant based menu degustation. Flavors were well balanced and the menu concept of utilizing ingredients specific to regions of Malaysia made the journey very interesting. Service was very attentive and friendly. Thank you to the front and back of house for a well-rounded dinner that welcomed me whole-heartedly back to Malaysia.

The Tour of Malaysia tasting menu is structured as a geographical journey — North, East, Central & South — and every dish is a postcard. We began in the North, where three petite bites arrived on a banana leaf tray like little jewels. The squid, served kuih pie tee-style, was a love letter to Penang’s asam laksa. The corn-fed chicken whispered of Ipoh’s salt-baked traditions. The panggang, though carrying a gentle heat, deployed its spices with such intention that every element earned its place. These northern appetisers alone were worth the trip. The 0% yeast bread — a rustic, tapioca-based roll — arrived warm on a wooden tray alongside a vivid red chili emulsion. Ask for butter. Trust me. The combination of chili emulsion and butter together is one of those quietly revelatory moments you don’t see coming. Heading East, the charcoal-grilled prawn transported me straight back to childhood — the paku pakis (wild fern) nestled alongside it was a soulful, nostalgic touch that felt like

I visited this restaurant because it is widely known as a Michelin-recognized establishment in Malaysia, and naturally my expectations were quite high. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience was disappointing. In general, the food itself did not live up to the reputation of a Michelin-level restaurant. In particular, the meat dishes were not well balanced in terms of seasoning. The flavors felt either underdeveloped or poorly executed, and the quality of meat preparation seemed noticeably below what one would expect from a restaurant of this level. The handling and trimming of the meat did not appear refined, and the overall taste felt closer to that of an ordinary restaurant rather than a Michelin-recognized one. The duck dish, in particular, was quite problematic. It had a noticeable gamey smell that made it difficult to enjoy. Proper preparation of duck is essential to remove that strong odor, yet in this case it was still very present, which significantly affected the overall

Wonderful evening, we had the tasting menu and it was the best food ever, so wonderfully presented and the flavours were fabulous, the service and staff were top notch, the restaurant was comfortable and beautifully designed, each course came with an explanation of ingredients too. The gift of our photo at the end was such a nice thoughtful touch . What a special evening I would definately go again 😊 A well deserved Michelin star.

Cozy atmosphere and modern design. The food was impressive, with the exception of the duck main course. Slightly underwhelming for a Michelin-level restaurant. The duck skin was more chewy than crispy. The rice was a disappointing. I ordered it because of the waiter strongly recommendation. It was also unpleasant that the wines we tasted were poured from bottles that had already been opened. Despite the remarks we made to the waiter, this did not change. The fish and the veal were outstanding. We were most pleasantly surprised by the first dessert—a fantastic idea! There is some room for improvement in the service as well. The music was a bit too loud, and it was difficult to hear the presentation of the dishes. I strongly recommend the beverage pairing. The cocktails were incredible and innovative. In conclusion, I would recommend the restaurant and would visit again.

First time visiting Beta KL, and I can understand why it has been so difficult to secure a reservation. This Michelin-starred restaurant delivers a very thoughtful interpretation of Malaysian fine dining, beautifully showcasing local spices, heritage ingredients, and regional flavors from across the country. The experience started at the beautifully decorated lounge area, rich with Malay heritage influences, where we enjoyed our drinks and appetizers before dinner. I especially liked how the appetizers were presented in a traditional “pikul”-inspired style, where ingredients and dishes were carried using a shoulder pole with hanging woven baskets - a nostalgic reflection of old Malay kampung heritage and traditional market culture. It felt immersive and uniquely Malaysian. The opening bites were excellent, particularly the laksa-infused squid paired with pie tee, incorporating ingredients sourced from Northern and East Malaysia. Creative yet balanced, with strong local identity while

Upon arrival, you are first seated in the bar area before being guided to the main dining room. I thoroughly enjoyed the culinary journey through Malaysia’s diverse cuisine, with special mention to the scallop and duck dishes, all beautifully complemented by an outstanding cocktail pairing. I chose to add the signature abalone rice and, as I mentioned to the service team, I felt it was overcooked. My comment isn’t about the theatrics of palate cleansers (delicious result!) or whether one appreciates a signature dish or not, but rather about how feedback is welcomed and received. That said, thank you for a great evening. I shall be back.
