I've been to Plek a lot because it's a bar close to my house and has a nice vibe but honestly, it's got to the point now where I'd rather cycle into the city and actually get served rather than wait as long as you have to just for a drink. The waitresses are always standing round the bar chatting every time, and that's super nice to see that they clearly like working together, but I've come to eat/grab a drink and you are so easily ignored. I came to Nijmegen for the Vierdaagse and I stayed with a host family the lived close to Plek. I was in the city for 5 days and came to Plek 3 of those days. The outdoor patio is lovely and the inside is quite comfortable as well. The staff is friendly, the food was very good, and there was a nice beer and wine selection as well. Although I’m vegetarian, I ordered a vegan entree (the special vegan pizza). Our waiter ensured that I was getting a meal that fit within my dietary preferences.
