Kampong — what an experience this was. Went with a few friends and the whole vibe from the start was just so unique. You walk in thinking it’s a kadala kade, and then suddenly you’re in this really sophisticated cocktail bar — such a cool concept. I’m non-alcoholic, but my friends tried the cocktails and couldn’t stop talking about how good they were. Definitely seemed like the highlight for them. The food was great too, really enjoyed everything we tried. Only thing I’d say is I wish the portion sizes were a bit bigger. But overall, such a lovely evening with even better company. Honestly, places like this are such a breath of fresh air. Sri Lanka really needs more spots like Kampong — something creative, a bit unexpected, and done well. It’s not just about food or drinks, it’s the whole experience. Definitely one of those places you’d go back to, and also take people to when you want to show them something different.

My wife and I recently visited Kampong, and it was a fantastic experience. We decided to explore the menu properly and ended up ordering almost everything available — and honestly, every single dish was excellent! The quality of the food was outstanding, and the flavors were well balanced and authentic. One dish that really stood out for us was the Reef Fish Crudo, which I would highly recommend trying if you visit. The fish dishes in general were particularly impressive. The drinks were also great, the Malay Brew and the Beira Daiquiri was a highlight — definitely something I would recommend ordering. Beyond the food and drinks, the service was exceptional. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience very enjoyable. The atmosphere is also unique and beautifully done, making it a great place for a relaxed evening out. Such a proper speakeasy/cocktail bar. Cocktails and food are amazing, the Station Gimlet is phenomenal. This place doesn’t feel like you’re in Colombo. 4.5⭐️ The food was fantastic. The standouts were the deviled eggs, the yellow fin tuna cone and I personally really liked the nori taco. Vibe is great, very moody and fits the speak easy theme. Service was excellent, shoutout to Latisha for being excellent. I wouldn’t say it’s cheap. For 3 of us, one who wasn’t drinking the overall bill came to 45k, roughly 15k PP. reservations required

Kampong has to be one of the best hidden gems in Colombo. The atmosphere is always warm, lively, and full of character, making it such a lovely place to spend an evening. What truly makes it stand out, however, is the staff. They are consistently welcoming, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do. One evening, we decided to try all of the drinks on the menu, and it turned into one of the most enjoyable nights we have had. Sitting at the bar is an experience in itself, as the team take the time to explain how certain drinks came to be on the menu and talk you through everything with such knowledge and enthusiasm. It adds a really personal touch that you do not often find. The food is equally impressive. We especially loved the duck and betel leaf dish, which was absolutely delicious. Kampong Bar is hidden behind a gram shop, which is fun to sneak in. We tried the Kiripani, Kompanni Sour, and Nippon Highball. The first two were my favourites. Interesting, well-crafted cocktails that feel like they actually belong to this place. Each drink draws inspiration from the heritage of the neighbourhood, using Sri Lankan spirits like arrack paired with local ingredients. The vibe is cosy and intimate. Not a loud night out kind of place, more the kind of spot you go when you actually want to talk. Great for a slow evening or a date. Colombo needed something like this.
