Calicut Notebook in Sharjah serves decent Malabar fusion cuisine. Highlights: - Fish Mango Curry (5/5) - delicious, a standout dish! - Kandhari Chicken Starter (5/5) - must-try, flavors were spot on Other dishes like tandoori chicken, chicken curry, soup, and starters were good (4/5). Portions were worth the price. Service is good, staff are attentive but not proactive. Ambience is average: - Open-hall seating gets noisy - Normal decor, not high-fi - Wheelchair accessible - Sitting arrangement is average Parking: - Paid parking in front (except for their own guests who get free parking) - Free parking opposite side (~50-100m away) Facilities: - Basic washbasins and counters, no mirror - Toilets are average, cleanliness is okay - No specific kids facilities Price-wise, it's okay. I recently had an amazing food experience at Calicut Notebook Restaurant. One of my friends took me there for a treat, and I got the chance to try some truly delicious dishes. I loved the taste so much that the very next day I took my family there for dinner as well. We tried the Thai Riped Mango Salad, Thai Prawns, the mouth-watering Kandhari Fish (Hammour), Kandhari Chicken, and a few chicken dishes with naan. Every dish was packed with flavor. The Kandhari Hammour was especially outstanding—spicy, perfectly cooked, and incredibly tasty. In my experience, it’s very rare to get a single steak of Hammour fish for just AED 7.50, especially with such rich and spicy flavor. The Thai Prawns were amazing too and definitely worth trying. There are still many other dishes on the menu that I’m looking forward to tasting in the coming days. However, while I was waiting outside the restaurant, I made several follow-up phone calls that lasted for half an hour. During these calls, I encountered a lack of professionalism from the staff. They rudely informed me that I had no choice but to wait, suggesting I "enjoy the crowd and pass the time." I was shocked by this response. I feel that this restaurant and its management need to understand the significance of providing warm and courteous service to their customers.
