A hidden gem! Lived locally for decades but never properly visited until today. My 10 year old lived the hands on aspects on the museum and the chance to see how people really lived in the 1800's and my friend and I learned a lot too. The volunteers were all warm, friendly and generous with their knowledge and time. They adapted their talks depending on the interest shown and the timeframes of each visitor but were wealths of information. A unique experience and hidden treasure, visiting the Framework Knitters Museum! Lots to learn about (e.g. workforce history, industrial heritage with modern links to knitting too) with helpful and knowledgeable staff and volunteers. What a lovely museum! We visited with my daughter whos studying Fashion & Textiles at college. The staff were wonderful and went out of there way to explain everything they knew to help her gain research for her project. We will definitely visit again. Lovely cafe there too.
