Walked past late in the evening and the sign caught our eye: “Wiltshire’s first Indian restaurant. Since 1962.” Hard not to give that a go. We were welcomed straight in around 10.00pm and shown to a table by the window with a chilled bottle of Kingfisher while we looked over the menus. The place has a warm, familiar atmosphere that feels reassuringly timeless. Great background music, wonderful aromas, and a setting that immediately made us hungry. I would strongly advise to stay away from this restaurant if you are Indian and want to eat Indian food. Biryani was jeera rice with chunks of chicken and biryani came with “hot sauce” which was basically mix veg. Butter chicken comes with two gravies, and you can even ask for it Asian-style. Fair warning though—the butter chicken (Asian style) is so sweet, it basically is dessert, I wonder how much sweet the other one would be 🙄. Thank you, thank you again for making my son’s birthday so memorable. After booking online, I even received a call to check if we were celebrating a special occasion. We arrived to balloons on the table and the most exceptional service. The food was fabulous with so many choices. We were even surprised with a cake and offered a complimentary liqueur. Highly recommend for the service, friendliness, amazing food, and for going above and beyond.
