Situated at the El Movado Hotel, it's a neat complex with a sitting area composed of other little restaurants and a taproom. A great little place to have lunch before heading to old town. A Costa Rican mom n pop joint and I think JB finalist?? Anyhow, a great stop when in ABQ. We had the chicken and pork tamale separate, empanadas and the fried plantains. All dishes were delicious and the masa was homegrown. Beware the small bowl of orange sauce has a kick. All dishes were homegrown. I save enough room for the fresh made flan sitting on top of chocolate sponge cake....it was killer. Apparently

We went here because we were recommended by a friend! The food was absolutely delicious and the vibes were immaculate. I will say I came as a celiac so I have a few notes if you are also visiting as someone who is gluten sensitive with cross contamination issues. There is not dedicated GF fryers but the tamales are gluten free and I got a side of rice and it was absolutely fantastic. I understand that their kitchen is small so dedicated fryers would be difficult which is why my visit is still five stars. The staff was friendly and helpful as well as educated on celiac. Really tasty, fresh food at great prices with friendly service. The ropa vieja bowl (shredded beef, rice, beans, & plantains) was perfectly balanced and didn’t feel heavy at all. The banana-leaf tamales was the best we’ve ever had. We’ll definitely come back soon to try other dishes. 😋

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND EAT HERE!!! We happened on the amazing little place when the restaurant we were planning on going to was closed. WE ARE SO VERY LUCKY!! This was hands down some of the best food I have ever had in my life!! Amazing depth of flavor in every dish. The empanadas were so flaky, and even with the very juicy shredded beef they did not get soggy at all. The nachos had delicious shredded chicken with amazing black beans and I kid you not, cheese like I have never tasted on nachos.
