Arriving in Chicago from Houston, found this place after google search and highly rates reviews. We ordered chả giò, phở gà, bún chả hà nội and holy thai basil with tofu. All the dishes were too salty, the chả giò was not fresh, greasy and filled with minced pork only, nước mắm was probably the worse I have ever tasted, too salty! The phở gà was tasteless, it's really an insult to call it PHỞ. The holy basil (thai basil) dish was mainly shredded dried mushroom (mộc nhĩ) with a few leaves of basil. First time visiting and Saigon Sisters went above and beyond anything I was expecting. It’s a small spot with a lot of class. The service was really attentive and sweet. The food was absolutely delicious! We had shrimp spring rolls with a peanut dipping sauce, the chicken and pork Pad Thai and beef fried rice… really good! Elevated compared to other places. The menu does a great job balancing traditional Vietnamese flavors with a slightly modern, shareable feel without losing authenticity. During one of the coldest evenings I’ve ever experienced in Chicago, Saigon Sister’s insightful and heartwarming cuisine brought me back to the joys of Vietnam’s expansive, accessible, and culture-defining foodways. Chef Mary’s drive to simultaneously bring back her homeland’s authentic flavors while pushing the boundaries of what defines Vietnamese cuisine is provocative yet foundational .
