Anthology is one of my favorite coffee-focused coffee shops in Detroit. All baked goods made in house are gluten free, with a phenomenal quiche during the weekend! The treats are so good and heavily focus on in-season fruits so you never really know what will be in the pastry case. They're so delicious, you might scare your gluten-free friends! The baristas are wonderful and very knowledgeable about the coffee. A word to the wise: this isn't a place where you can order a super sugary flavored latte, they mainly offer a house-made simple syrup. So if you like the taste of coffee, you're in luck

My favorite coffee roaster in the entire metropolitan Detroit area, and I believe they are one of the best coffee roasters in the US. They genuinely care about the craft of roasting and the art of coffee. I love the espresso drink ordering system they have (espresso + different sizes of milk or oat milk). Cool looking spot with a great atmosphere and definitely a unique vibe in Eastern Market. I stopped in just hoping to grab a coffee and relax a bit. Unfortunately, the amount of political signage throughout the shop made it feel less welcoming for someone just looking for a neutral coffee shop experience. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, and I respect that, but for me personally it just was not the environment I was looking for. Coffee shops are usually a place I go to unwind and disconnect from all of that.
