Stopped my Jefferson’s Cafe today, I use to frequent here when I lived in west orange over 20 years ago. I had the pancakes with bacon, home fries, and cheese grits. The pancakes were ok pretty basic in my opinion. The home fries, bacon and cheese grits were so good. The waitresses were friendly and super attentive. Definitely a must try.

reasons i’m only giving 3 stars, it’s freezing inside, the waitress let us know they haven’t had whitings in weeks and they don’t know when they’re getting more (not the best look especially if you know that’s a high selling item) and lastly because they add their own gratuity that maybe i overlooked, but never saw mentioned of anywhere (the way i tip yall would’ve gotten more than you decided to take anyway, so i found that a little silly). now the food i had was amazing!! grits, salmon cakes, biscuits and a waffle. the salmon cakes were a little salty, but not to the point where it disrupts

We waited a FULL hour from seating time to plate in front of us. Everything took forever only to have lukewarm food with no seasoning except COPIOUS amount of butter. The grits was good and that was it. Salmon cakes was as close to mush as one can get and even the hot sauce couldn’t fully save it. The wait time was not worth the food. Not to mention the 20% gratuity that is AUTOMATICALLY added…. Like what. So on top of be slow and not hot you steal your tip?!?!?&? Never again

Nice spot to grab some delicious food. The wait for the food was a little long, but that didn't take away from the flavor of the dishes. The pork chops were amazing and seasoned extremely well. My sides were ok, but the greens I did have to jazz up a bit for my liking. All together I'd visit again.
