If you’ve ever dreamed of visiting Istanbul for authentic Turkish cuisine, you don’t have to travel that far, just head to Zeeyum Kitchen on W. Market Street in Greensboro! After hearing so many great things, my family and I finally decided to try it this weekend, and all I can say is… WOW! What an incredible experience from start to finish. First, let me say that Zee, the owner and chef, is one of the most welcoming restaurateurs you’ll ever meet. He not only prepares amazing food but also takes the time to personally greet his guests, making you feel like family the moment you walk in. Food was amazing! Service was not great! Maybe the young lady was having a bad day. It did unfortunately spoil the mood of my birthday dinner however. Not one refill, or visit to our table after an hour of dining with only a few other guests in the restaurant. Had to sit around waiting for a long time just waiting to ask for the check. I had the Beyti at Zeeyum, and honestly, it was one of the best Turkish dishes I have ever eaten in my life. I have eaten Beyti in many cities across Turkey—from Istanbul to Ankara, Izmir, and many other places—but I have never experienced one this delicious. The flavor was absolutely incredible. The meat was perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and full of rich, smoky flavor. The yogurt was creamy and fresh, and the butter sauce with spices on top brought everything together beautifully. Every bite was balanced and unforgettable. You can immediately tell that great care goes into the preparation of the food here. This was my first time experiencing any kind of Turkish cuisine or culture and I am glad I came. The decor was beautiful, the staff was kind and welcoming, and the food?? AMAZING...Everything was so fresh! Our server had no problem helping us pronounce different menu items.
