Black dog is a not-so-hidden gem. I wish I lived here in Kansas City so I could spend more time here. Its a beautiful place, with kind people and a great atmosphere. The pastry I got was delicious, a raspberry and lime dessert pastry. I also ordered a regular iced latte, which was also delicious. The espresso was delicious! Very warm feeling, not too sharp or bitter. Over all very nice place and I would absolutely reccomend giving it a try.

Years ago their coffee was unmatched (in my opinion), but in recent years it seems to have become over-sweetened like most Coffee shops (again, personal opinion). I liked how they used to focus on bringing out the coffee flavor and only sweetening beverages, like their mocha, subtly. Today's tasted more like sweet hot chocolate than coffee. Their food is still divine. I got the almond butter toast, which was on a fantastically thick slice of perfectly baked cranberry walnut bread. We are from Texas and fequent the Kansas City metro about once a year. This is usually our go to coffee shop and one of my favorite things to get is their mocha and their bread with almond butter on top. I forgot what it's called though.

This place has an amazing experience! The coffee is always great, witch makes the higher prices worth it. The baristias are always kind hearted, fast, and hard working. I always feel welcomed when I come to this place. Plus the latte art when you get a mus is always a fun way to feel fancy, lots of different places to sit, outside, inside,and there are some quieter areas in the building. Love it.
