... Took the new Amtrak service to Mobile and we've eaten at several restaurants in town. Mama's is by far the best food in town with the best service. Affordable prices. Chicken & Dumplings was on point and the shrimp platter had awesome flavor. That Mac& Cheese was the bomb. Eat Here !

I remember coming here a few years ago and it was awesome. I guess they changed management or something. The service was fine. Inside was a little cramped but it was ok. The food came out suspiciously fast. I ordered country fried steak and my company ordered fried chicken and sides. It came out in less than 5 minutes. Which makes it obvious that it's not freshly made. The macaroni we ordered was very grainy and had a weird texture. The green beans were completely bland, no seasoning at all. Such a great local place! They were packed for lunch but the service is super fast, we lingered but those who were obviously on lunch break were in and out quickly! Our server was very attentive and the food was fantastic! Good home cooking that just makes you happy! The green blt was fabulous and the best I've ever had! Everything was fresh and delicious, I want to go back and try more! Definitely worth the stop, great prices too!! Oh and the candied yams are a must have, better than Grandma's!!!!

A great place to grab an affordable (and filling) lunch! My party of 4 arrived just after 11:00 and the place was almost empty, by noon it was almost completely full! We started with an appetizer of fried green tomatoes and ranch, which were very lightly breaded and absolutely delicious!
