Graham Ohayon★★★★This is a staple of LGBTQ+ history, and the atmosphere is incredible. The interior alone makes the experience feel memorable, especially for someone visiting the Castro for the first time. That said, the food was decent rather than especially memorable. My partner and I had different reactions to it, so we compromised on a three-star rating. I do not work in food service, so I cannot speak to the preparation with much authority, but my partner is a professional baker and an experienced cook, and she felt that some of the ingredients tasted canned rather than fresh. I personally did not notice
Kevin Dehart★★★★★Worth Every Minute of the Wait If you’re looking for a true San Francisco classic, Orphan Andy’s delivers in every possible way. Yes, the wait on New Year’s Day was a little long—but it was absolutely worth it. This small, no-frills diner in the heart of the Castro has all the charm you want in a neighborhood institution. The food was superb—comforting, flavorful, and cooked exactly the way diner food should be. Every bite reminded us why places like this endure. What really sets Orphan Andy’s apart, though, is the service. Sassy, friendly, and full of personality, the staff makes you feel
Alicia K. Young★★★★★My mom and I had weekday breakfast at Orphan Andy’s and we’ve found our new breakfast spot when meeting up in the city. The staff is amazing, food is home cooked deliciousness, and the restaurant is cozy and festive. Honestly it checked all the boxes and then some. My mom had the veggie omelette with pancakes. I had the huevos rancheros with pancakes. Not a pancake girlie but these were *chef’s kiss*.
Asia Perpetua★★★★★After a fun adventure with the ladies in the City we were so excited to try this diner out. The first thing we did was adore all the Christmas lights and take all the pics. Then after sitting down and ordering the yummiest 24 hour diner dinner we relaxed in the jolly atmosphere until our food arrived in less than 10 minutes. Not only is this place adorable, but the service and the food are top notch.
