Kelly’s Roast Beef on the U.S. Route 1 strip in Saugus is a pretty fun place to bring friends from out of state for lunch or dinner. I’ve been here several times before (although not recently, until now) and the fried seafood and roast beef sandwiches are always excellent. The dining area is very large with plenty of nooks for seating. Carousel horse decor adorns the place, and there is also a large fish tank to engage your attention; it’s easy to see that children would love it here - and yes, there is a kids menu available. I really don't know where to begin. A frequent visitor to Saugus and Revere before the company was bought out. This was my first visit since then and it will definitely be my last. The food quality was below average from what Kelly's used to be. I remember bringing home bags of food and it was delicious! Today, it was so bad that I actually threw a lot of it out. - Lobster Roll. Quantity is the same. They always give you a lot. Average quality lobster, no flavor, soggy and had a smell. - Fried Calamari. Small in size, wasn't crispy, soggy and no flavor. Needed a lot of tarter sauce. - Fries

Absolutely went downhill since private equity bought them out. They let the tropical fish tank die and put "being upgraded" signs for over a year. The saltwater tank is dying and poorly managed. The food quality is awful now, tablets that dont work correctly to order your food, and they even changed the fries from their classic ones to some frozen trash. Moldy signs cover the dining room and they no longer bring the food to the table. Prices have doubled in the last few years while food quality got worse. The entire place really went downhill and it's sad to see the shell of the restaurant it

We ate there this evening and ordered the fish platter and the shrimp platter. They must use frozen fish because both meals had no flavor. If you like frozen seafood, Stop & Shop down the road is a better and less expendive choice. Apparently they eliminated most seafood meals and are focusing on roast beef. Staff were very nice, however.
