Loved having our morning coffee and a breakfast at The Vault. Set in an old bank, this cafe has a lot of vintage charm with eclectic decor in every corner of the space. It was a lively place, even early in the morning when we visited. They have plenty on their menu for breakfast as well as a pastry case if you are on the go. The most memorable part of our meal was definitely the yogurt and fruit bowl. It was beautifully plated and tasted equally delicious (their coffee was also excellent). This will be one of our first stops on our next trip to Nanaimo!

Visited with my partner and had a great time. She went for a classic brewed coffee while I ordered a latte and a pastry, both well done and worth it. But honestly, the drinks almost play second fiddle to everything else going on here. The building dates back to 1912 and you can feel every year of it: vaulted ceilings, eclectic art on the walls, mismatched furniture, and a stage that comes alive with live music. The BLT was genuinely delicious. My latte was perfection. 10/10 on the food. Decor is super cute and lots of seating options. The service wasn’t super friendly but it wasn’t unusual for a place that takes payment before you’re served your food. Also took a while to get our food but not unreasonable and worth the wait for sure.

BEST NANAIMO BAR IN NANAIMO! Traditionally prepared Nanaimo Bar with three layers perfectly crafted. The bottom layer was chewy and lots of coconut like it should be. If you are a Nanaimo Bar fan, or merely Nanaimo Bar curious, this is a must stop and try cafe! We had breakfast here and the food was great - but the Nanaimo Bar stole the show! Brought back memories and made my heart sing! I will definitely be back!
