Freiberger is seriously great. I had the crispiest pork knuckle - the best I’ve had in Germany so far - and we liked it so much we ordered one more! The potato dumplings were also incredibly fluffy and fresh and the Sauerkraut was so refreshing and unique. The service was quick and attentive. Tasty soups, Sauerbraten and Krautwickel. It’s one of those restaurants where I have a meal and keep saying “I never realised this, but German food is really yummy!” Try to make a reservation before you go.

The whole pork knuckle—my must-try dish in Dresden! It’s a generous portion for one person, but the leftovers are just as delicious later. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside—I absolutely love this classic German dish. I visited the restaurant in the morning, right after it opened, and then spent half the day exploring the city. It’s conveniently located right in Dresden’s main square, making it a perfect stop before or after sightseeing.
