I don't know what they use to make it spicy, but it is there. My family and I all really enjoyed it, but it was still sharper than we expected. Service: 5/5 the food showed up about 2 minutes after ordering. Because this place only serves on dishes (the gulasch), the food arrived very quickly. As the menu offers just one item, service was almost instant. The goulash was delicious, though quite heavy on paprika and pepper and if you're not into that, this place might not be for you. I was also offered a free meatless goulash after finishing mine, which was a nice surprise. Kölsch beer is always a great addition and paired really well with the spicy goulash.

Any time I'm back in Köln, this is a staple for me. I could honestly eat it every day. It's nothing fancy; the servers have always been easy/friendly, the atmosphere isn't necessarily cozy, but it's comfortable and warm. Goulash is delicious, bread is perfect, and the beer - chef's kiss. I always leave fat and happy.
