Not the easiest place to find but well worth a visit. Great selection of regional cuisine as well as beverage choices. One standout for everyone was the Palak Patta chaat - this has now become my gold standard for all chaats going forward!
The cafe is situated inside National Crafts Museum. Generally its crowded during day time, try to go in post evening for less crowd. Food is fine a bit expensive according to the taste.

Visited Cafe Lota recently, and it brought back a lot of great memories. This café, located near Pragati Maidan inside the Crafts Museum, has always been a favourite. I first visited it years ago when I had just moved to the city and was living in South Delhi. Back then, I hosted a few friends here, and everyone loved it. After moving to Gurgaon, it had been quite some time since my last visit. But recently, being in the area, I decided to take a new group along—and I’m glad to say the place still holds the same charm even after 10–12 years. The vibe remains consistent, and the café continues to buzz with energy. The menu offers a great mix of regional and fusion dishes, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. We mostly stuck to vegetarian and, being a group of 8–9, managed to try quite a variety. Drinks Nimbu Pani – 8/10 Kokum Sharbat – 8/10 Cold Kappi – 9/10 Sattu Sharbat – 9/10 Aam Panna – 9/10 Starters Mini Rava Idli – 8/10 Palak Patta Chaat – 8/10 bajre ka chilla- 8/

It took us quite some time to find Cafe Lota because Google Maps showed the location a few meters before the actual place. Cafe is inside the Handicrafts Museum, so it is a bit confusing if you are visiting for the first time. The place itself is calm and has a very soothing vibe. The ambience and atmosphere are really nice and probably the best thing about this cafe. We tried their famous chilla, chole bhature and chai. Honestly, the food was very basic in taste, more like simple homemade food. It did not really justify the price. There was nothing special or outstanding about the flavours. Cafe Lota feels quite hyped, especially as locals. For us, the food was not that great but the ambience and peaceful setting inside Delhi make it a decent place to visit ONCE.

Here’s a quick, clean review you can post as-is: Cafe Lota is a lovely spot with a warm, ethnic vibe set inside the National Crafts Museum. The ambience reflects Indian craft and culture beautifully, making it a calm and refreshing place to relax. The food is simple, authentic, and well-prepared, with great flavors. A perfect place to enjoy good food in a culturally rich setting. Highly recommended for a peaceful meal in Delhi.

We really liked the drinks menu here (and there is at least one page missing from what’s available online). The drinks were quite experimental, unusual, but absolutely delicious. Although I felt a bit worried about having a shrimp curry on my first day in India, the food was thoroughly cooked. It was also very tasty, and I would have loved to try more from their menu. Highly recommend!

Cafe Lota turned out to be a delightful surprise tucked inside the National Crafts Museum. The ambience is warm and inviting, perfectly complementing the museum’s artistic setting. Prices lean toward the higher side, but the quality of food and overall experience make it worthwhile. The menu is impressive, offering a wide range of regional dishes from across India. Service is quick, efficient, and well-organized, which adds to the comfort of dining here. We tried the Assamese Thali from the special festival menu, and it was outstanding. Each dish had an authentic taste, carefully prepared with attention to detail. The portions were generous—my wife and I shared one thali and left feeling completely satisfied. A small tip: there’s usually a wait, but you can register at the reception and explore the Crafts Museum while you wait. They’ll call you when your table is ready, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Cafe Lota is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore

Café Lota is an absolute gem inside the Crafts Museum. The ambiance is quiet, peaceful, and beautifully designed, making it the perfect spot to unwind after exploring the museum. The food was excellent and the service was on point. We ordered the Kumaoni Thali, which was delicious and surprisingly generous—easily enough for two people. The menu itself is incredibly interesting; it focuses on regional Indian cuisine, with many dishes we had never even heard of. Everything sounded so good that we genuinely wanted to try the entire menu—maybe next time! We were lucky to get a table without waiting or a reservation, though the place usually does get busy. Overall, a must-visit for anyone who loves thoughtful, regional flavours and a calm dining experience.
