Visited Cafe Lota recently, and it brought back a lot of great memories. This café, located near Pragati Maidan inside the Crafts Museum, has always been a favourite. I first visited it years ago when I had just moved to the city and was living in South Delhi. Back then, I hosted a few friends here, and everyone loved it. After moving to Gurgaon, it had been quite some time since my last visit. But recently, being in the area, I decided to take a new group along—and I’m glad to say the place still holds the same charm even after 10–12 years. The vibe remains consistent, and the café continues to buzz with energy. The menu offers a great mix of regional and fusion dishes, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. We mostly stuck to vegetarian and, being a group of 8–9, managed to try quite a variety. It took us quite some time to find Cafe Lota because Google Maps showed the location a few meters before the actual place. Cafe is inside the Handicrafts Museum, so it is a bit confusing if you are visiting for the first time. The place itself is calm and has a very soothing vibe. The ambience and atmosphere are really nice and probably the best thing about this cafe. We tried their famous chilla, chole bhature and chai. Honestly, the food was very basic in taste, more like simple homemade food. It did not really justify the price. There was nothing special or outstanding about the flavours. Cafe Lota feels quite hyped, especially as locals. For us, the food was not that great but the ambience and peaceful setting inside Delhi make it a decent place to visit ONCE.
