LORACORLO Express – A Middle Eastern Gem at Formosa MRT Located inside Formosa MRT station, LORACORLO Express is the fast-food-style offshoot of the original LORACORLO restaurant in Zuoying. We used to live near the north Kaohsiung branch and were regulars—eating there a couple of times a month. Since moving to the southern part of the city, we've missed it dearly and rarely have a reason to head back up north. So it was a real treat to stumble upon their new express location—much more convenient for us, and just as delicious! The food is everything you’d hope for from Middle Eastern cuisine: perfectly made pitas, shawarmas, falafel, hummus, roasted veggies, tender meats—all crafted with love and care. You can taste the quality in every bite. The owner and his partner are also super friendly and passionate about what they do, which makes the experience even better. About to go to the airport and found this gem at Formosa Blvd Sta. The food is absolutely great, very filling and satisfying! The lemonade was so refreshing, the perfect match for the meal. This chicken shawarma is really good! The kebab, wow! And the falafel 👌. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Dan. Wow wow wow!!! It’s my third time eating here and I’m just becoming bigger fan everytime! I also love their restaurant in Reifung, but this one is so easy and fun! First time I had the Havita Sandwich, which was moist and soft and cheesy and super fresh in a homemade Chala bread. Then the Shawarma Pita- so flavorful, fresh, soft and the same pitas as in Reifung that I cannot stop eating. And today I had the shawarma platter with rice, chopped salad and hummus! Phenomenal! Gonna make it m weekly spot! Also, the owner’s kid is the cutest thing on earth!❤️❤️❤️

The way this restaurant claims ownership of Levantine and broader Middle Eastern cuisine feels dismissive of its true origins. Dishes like hummus, falafel, and shawarma belong to a shared cultural heritage across Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and other parts of the Levant - not something that can be rebranded under one national label. It’s similar to a Chinese person opening a bubble tea shop in Japan and calling it “Chinese bubble tea.” It misrepresents where the cuisine actually comes from. Authentic Middle Eastern food deserves to be celebrated for all its influences, not narrowly claimed by one group by the looks of this restaurant.
