Paya Thai (the restaurant, though it looks like it may also be, or Google thinks it is, a hotel) was a delicious place to stop in for lunch. My family was visiting Taiwan and celebrated my son's 15th birthday while here. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food. There were 7 of us and it's a bit of a squeeze fitting in the small dining area, especially with 6 other customers, but we were glad to have found this place. The green curry was great; we also enjoyed the pad thai, a sweet and spicy chicken and cashew dish, a ground pork with rice and egg dish, the dumpling soup, and spring rolls. None of it was overly spicy, but it had a nice heat to it. The host was so kind to give us a plate of sticky rice and mango dessert to share. That might've been the favorite, even though we were all full after our meals.

Two years trapped in Taiwan, coming to PayaThai is like a breath of fresh air. Thai air. The restaurant has a Thai dessert focus with your regular coconut milk base and mango treats, however these simple Thai delights are a rare treat in Kaohsiung. The pad krapao tasted as if I were eating in a small restaurant in the suburbs of Bangkok. Just right.
