What a wonderful find. We wanted to hear local musicians in a small atmospheric pub and boy did we find it. The other reviews didn’t exaggerate. Musicians would wonder in with their various instruments and have a two song session. There were students, tourists who borrowed a guitar and an old couple singing folk songs. The guy behind the bar would play violin between serving and played a cello and piano when the crowd was less late at night. They carry on until 1! I can’t recommend it enough. Happy days

We were looking for a place to chill in Edinburgh, we wanted to listen local artists try local beers, Captain's Bar is the perfect place for all of these. There 4-5 beer choices which have different tastes and flavours. Place is small but people are so friendly aand the music was awesome, definitely suggested.

What a fabulous experience. We ducked into Captain's Bar really by chance, and had such a wonderful time. We ended up spending several hours, enjoying the scene, the music, and the people. We were embraced by them all, and even had one musician dedicate a piece to us, being we were visiting from America. It was so much fun that we just happened on, and have already told numerous people to go there. You just can't beat the music, the atmosphere, and the friendliness.

A small and very cosy pub. They had traditional music with some modern music as well. Different singers and musicians all had a go at there chosen style. I didn't order food but had plenty of lovely Guinness ☺️. I highly recommend this place even if it's for a couple of pints.
