My sister in law left a bad review about this place, I came to have a look at some and saw how a staff member posted a 5 star review. How do I know? They took a picture of the food from the kitchen and posted it claiming to be a customer. You can see it’s a metal table from the kitchen. It’s obvious. I also asked someone I knew who works at this pub and he said yeah I know her she’s a staff member…? This isn't so much a review of the venue. It's fine, good grub, well served, nice place. It's more a review of the reviews, particularly the bad ones. Firstly, reviews from years ago don't apply to the present day except to bring down the average score. Secondly, if anyone actually took the time to read these reviews it's obvious some of them are not genuine and if not written by the same person, then the same group of people are involved. My first time coming here with my girlfriend I was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable my night was. Honestly I'm not a pub person but the castle was very warming and had a real community atmosphere. We was only going for a quick drink but ended up staying 2-3 hours and having food as the menu and smell of food coming from the kitchen was so tempting. I had a really tasty 5oz rump steak and my partner had the curry house feast. To say that was very delicious, fresh and hot and great value for money better than other places in the area. I was really disappointed with both the atmosphere and the service at The Castle Pub. The place felt unwelcoming from the moment we walked in — dull, noisy in an unpleasant way, and lacking any of the charm you’d expect from a pub with this name. Things took a much more serious turn when my wife took our young daughter to the toilet. She was shocked to find what appeared to be drugs scattered on the floor.
