TL;DR: Weekly drive from Blackburn for the flat white, chocolate cake worth the trip on its own, staff who actually love coffee. I drive over from Blackburn every week for the flat white, and that should tell you most of what you need to know about Atkinsons. The flat white is textbook. Silky milk, and an espresso base that's sweet and rich rather than bitter. I pull my own shots at home and I'm picky about espresso, and theirs still wins. Very cosy cafe that caters for working people with laptop as they have another section at the back and the section at the front is mostly for people to socialise. They have a good selection of specialty coffee and various ways of brewing, from espresso to siphon to chemex. Coffee was tad bit over-extracted for me, had the bitterness and loss the fruity notes that I picked unfortunately. They do serve toasties, pastries and cakes if you would like some brunch/lunch.

First time here. Heard so much about the coffee I had to come. It is indeed absolutely fantastic coffee, cups a little small but loved it and the carrot cake was superb. Moist, gorgeous icing and a decent portion. Staff are so so lovely and made us feel welcome. Will definitely be back!

Best coffee in Lancaster, really creamy, deep flavour but never bitter. The cafe is big and spacious with a nice variety of seating options and also a great place to do work or study. Lovely independent place and their shop next door is always a pleasure to pop into, selling lots of tea varieties, coffees, books and single origin chocolate bars.
