What a delightful place in which to spend 90 minutes, because castle staff had wrongly advised me about tour times. I enjoyed an excellent mocha coffee (£4.20) and, had I not had a nice breakfast, would certainly have opted for one of the many yummy-looking filled rolls or cakes on display. It is quite clear that the spot is popular for people who have work to do; perhaps TOO popular, because several tables had signs banning laptops at weekends and between 12 and 2 during the week. Friendly staff, plenty of seating, both inside and out. Lovely spot.

This is the place for the best coffee in Lancaster. It is so pleasant to sit either in or outside in the castle. Inside you are in an airy space within the walls. Outside you are in the sheltered castle courtyard. The scones are always my go-to good here but everything looks good. The staff are friendly and I have a loyalty card too.
