We visited Courts in Llandough for a family lunch to celebrate Christmas and a birthday. Our table was upstairs in a round, cushioned seating area. While the space itself was pleasant, it felt very cramped for a booking of 11 people. It took around 40 minutes for our food and drink orders to be taken, which was frustrating — especially as we were then told we would only have around 70 minutes to eat our two courses (with some of the group having ordered three) due to another booking. We have visited courts many times through the years and thoroughly enjoyed it hence why we chose it for our valentines meal. Everyone knows when booking on valentines to expect busier atmospheres and slower service however this wasn’t just that. To begin we were sat upstairs extremely close to other tables as if just trying to make room for the amount of bookings they had. The service throughout was incredibly slow. We visited yesterday and it was very average so we were so disappointed as a couple of years ago it was fabulous. The building and interior is so beautiful it’s a shame they have not kept the quality of everything else high. My Mum wanted a mojito but it wasn’t on their cocktail menu, so she asked for a Tanqueray gin which was on their menu (which has many gins listed) only to be told they only had Gordon’s or Bombay. Visited here on many occasions, it’s a beautiful setting. Front of house staff are very friendly. Service hasn’t been the same these last few months as it was before. Cocktails are lovely but pricey, food is priced well and has always been nice. Live music events can be loud when dining especially upstairs so if you want a quieter evening avoid these dates.
