My daughter and I both had off today, so we decided to hit up Fred's for breakfast. I had a craving for steak and eggs and she went with the corned beef hash. Both plates were very good. I particularly appreciate that they use real potatoes for their hashbrowns, not the frozen/freeze dried crap most places serve up these days. The service was great, coffee was strong, and our bellies are fullllll.

After visiting based on a local recommendation, we can’t believe this was our first time hearing about it after living in Akron for 5 years! The diner was bustling even at 11:30 on a Monday, which really says something about their reputation in the area. Corned beef hash was hard to beat, and the breakfast sandwich on a croissant was delicious!

First time here and this place is amazing! This is a diner that all others should aspire to be. Both the employees and other customers were so nice. Delicious and well-priced food! Their motto “Eat, pay, get out!” is perfect because they can get busy but well worth the short wait. I’ve lived up here in Ohio for 5 years and just now found a diner that lives up to my expectations.

Yep, another 5 star review. There's nothing like an old school diner, and Fred's hits the spot in so many ways. Homey atmosphere, quick and efficient service, amazing food, and good blue collar folks. Akron is lucky to have a place like this!
