I’ve been past here countless times. For a couple of decades. Never came here until now. Yeah, it’s popular, busy, and nationally known. Sometimes places like that can fall under with food quality and subpar service. I went in hesitant, but enjoyed every minute of being here as well as every bite on my plate. Fortunately, cards AND cash are accepted here, and parking is plentiful. Inside is where space gets narrow. There’s a doorman who greets customers up the entry steps and communicates to a server when seats are available (at the counter, in a row of booths or small tables in the back).

I went to Frank’s Diner on a Saturday around 10:35am and had to wait a bit to be seated, but it moved pretty quickly. We were seated around 10:50 and it was definitely worth it. My husband ordered the garbage plate and a lobster bisque, which I think was the soup of the day, and I got the cinnamon roll. Everything was great, but the experience itself is what really stood out. Right at 11am, a server started passing out shots of tequila to the entire restaurant. Love the vibe of the place: unapologetically Frank's, and chock full of both character and humor. Service was outstanding, and the food was even better! Given the strong reviews for a whole bunch of what they offer/serve, I wanted to try as many different things as I could handle (which was made a bit trickier by the awesomely generous portions!), so I ordered 1 pancake, 1 homemade French toast, a side of bacon, and a cinnamon roll. This place was a joy to visit. I loved the decor and obviously the train. For food, service, and atmosphere I gave 5 stars. However overall I gave 4 stars because me being in the food service industry having a bachelor's degree, I feel the cook should be wearing a hair net over the food. At the end of my meal I did find a small hair in my American fries. I had no intention on doing anything about it, I just wanted to let my server aware and told him that I felt the cook should be wearing a hair net, but that was the extent.
