We visited Kalaveras right by the Pike Outlets in Long Beach and had a great experience. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and everything was beautifully presented. We ordered the ceviche, asada salad and a mixed platter of street tacos with asada, pollo, carnitas, and barbacoa. Every meat was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The taco platter was served on a wooden plank and was more than enough to share. The complimentary chips and salsa were a nice touch and paired perfectly with the meal. We swung by the Pike Outlets and saw this nice Mexican restaurant on Pine Ave in front of the Long Beach Convention center. The place was packed still at 2:45 so must be a good place to eat. We were seated immediately when we came in but really looked busy at this time. We ordered the Wet Burritos for me and my wife from a nice waitress named Linda that was eager to take our orders. A nice Mexican restaurant in Long Beach. Festive atmosphere. Dia De los Muertes atmosphere. Food was decent, wife raved about Kala Bowl. I hade Chicken fajitas and I avoid carbs so I don’t get beans or rice or tortillas. I usually request a salad and they accommodated that request, no extra charge. We also just drink water, no alcohol so sometimes it seems like we get dismissed for no drinks, a little bit of that vibe here. Our food was delivered to our table within 7 minutes, lightning fast! Hearty portions. Staff was not very attentive to water refills, tip suffered because of that.
