The selection of baked goods may change, but the quality at Ad Astra is excellent, and they make the best coffee in town. I’m sensitive to gluten in the U.S., yet I can enjoy their baked goods and bread without any issues — the quality really shows. Their sourdough is excellent, and I always come back for their staple favorites, especially the chocolate croissants. FYI: Spicy fromage is a great catch to pair with the bread.

got the pain suisse which had a super yummy rhubarb filling, the cardamom bun, and the savory hand pie and everything was mind-blowingly delicious. i also got a miso caramel latte which was good but not life changing. service was really fast and i wish i could come here everyday!!

Clean, modern, yes, but the proof is in the bread! Excellent bread, pastries and coffee. It is not cheap, but younger a higher quality product. We had a baguette first and came back a different day for a whole (olive) loaf as it was so good. I added an flat white which was also very good. Funky atmosphere with a space theme. Service was friendly and efficient. You can see through a large window the bakers doing their magic. I didn't see any place to sit down, so assume this is a take out only.

We originally planned to have breakfast somewhere else, but ended up stumbling in here by accident — and I couldn’t be happier about it! The latte was hands down the best I’ve had in a long time. The hot ham and cheese croissant was absolutely incredible — perfectly flaky and so satisfying. And the bread? Words can’t even describe it. On top of that, they have an amazing selection of desserts — I wanted to try everything on the display! If you’re visiting Monterey, please skip the overhyped tourist spots and come here instead.
