I used to come to Islands almost weekly years ago and always loved their fish tacos, burgers, and cheese fries. It had been a long time since my last visit, so I was looking forward to coming back. When we arrived, the greeting at the host stand was a bit disorganized. The restaurant was fairly empty, but there was some confusion among the hosts about who was seating us, and we were eventually taken to a table in the far corner by the bathrooms. Waitress was incredibly nice and helpful. I ordered a Hawaiian burger with a Caesar salad. Manager (possibly?) brought my salad out and said they were remaking my burger because it was sloppy and overcooked. I ordered medium. That was perfectly okay with me; I was glad for them to remake it. The sauce and pineapple had good flavor with the burger, but I prefer a big, juicy burger. My husband had the Kilauea burger with fries. It was not good. There was so much black pepper seasoning that it made the taste of the burger unbearable. He ate less than half. Great energetic vibe with great food! Our server Gretell was amazing. She was a rockstar server who knew how to handle her station and get her guest what they need before being asked. They food tasted fresh and hot out of the kitchen.
