Duncan Cumming★★★Sadly we were left just slightly disappointed here by the 6 course tasting menu. Much as I appreciate unusual food pairings, watermelon with monkfish just didn't work. Gazpacho served with a tomato foam didn't really taste of much. Beef fillet on the menu was actually pork tenderloin (but no mention of that to us), and was slightly overcooked and dry. It could have done with something else served alongside like fondant potatoes; a few slices of cabbage didn't seem like enough. Best dish was red mullet in pea veloute. Overall, we truly enjoyed the experience, with one exception — the final pork dish. It was not only disappointing in flavor, but the cut itself was nearly impossible to chew, which felt like a very strange choice by the Chef. Fortunately, the desserts and cheeses more than compensated, especially the goat cheese ice cream, which was an absolute highlight.
