The feast I have when I get take out from here is a little embarrassing. I usually order cod, haddock and a battered sausage along with their chips, mushy peas, onion rings, and pickles. In my defense we are only in town a couple of times a year but we really look forward to sharing this as a family when we are local. The staff are pleasant and efficient and the food is always crispy not squishy. We really enjoy this place!

“If you’re after a proper, traditional British fish and chip experience — this is the place. The fish was perfectly cooked with that classic golden crisp, and the chips were exactly how they should be. What really stood out was the atmosphere — the retro seaside look instantly takes you back, capturing that authentic 70s/80s chip shop charm. It’s not trying to be modern — it’s doing the original thing properly, and that’s what makes it special. Highly recommend over the usual generic spots.”

Food is lovely from here. However, the lady behind the counter with glasses has no customer service skills whatsoever. It’s almost like it is too much trouble to serve you. The chips are delicious. And generally a good quality of food. Have been in twice in the last week at lunchtime. And I’m sad to say, after today I doubt I will return. Very poor portion served up. When I queried this, she told me that was half a portion of chips. I asked for a full portion. And she tried to charge me a further £3.90 on top of the £3,90 o had just paid. Not sure £7.80 is good value for that meal. Such a sham

They messed up our order asked for 2 curry sauces, said 2 curry sauces on receipt too but only got one and mushy peas instead. The chips were lukewarm and dry, it wasn’t even busy so I don’t know how they could mess it up.
