Our son took us to lunch here for a treat. Staff were extremely hospitable and very helpful. They conversed with us which was nice. This always gives a welcoming feeling. Food was delish! Very tasty! We really enjoyed ourselves. Only thing, need more space between tables, but overall I will definitely visit this cafe again although it’s a bit of a distance from my local area. Halloumi Heaven in Hackney! We visited Hackney yesterday taking a special trip for a vintage routemaster no 38 bus day all the way from Victoria station. I don't know the area at all but found the Mess cafe on google maps. We had the most incredibly delicious lunch; halloumi hummus wrap and salad for me and my daughter had hass avocado poached eggs and sourdough plus salad. I love salad but I couldn't finish it all (loved the olives!). The wrap was huge with lots of filling and perfectly cooked halloumi. My daughter loved the eggs, sourdough and avocado. We loved 'Mess Cafe', just the place we were seeking for breakfast during our visit to Hackney. We all agreed that the breakfasts were delicious, generous, well cooked & presented with excellent service & fairly priced. The staff were friendly & efficient. A nice atmosphere & lovely interior, a well deserved 10/10. We'll definately return. (A caveat, 'Mess Cafe' serves Halal options & I need to make clear as a warning to others but there's plenty of options to avoid it!)
