We came across this restaurant by accident, saw the great reviews, and decided to have our first fish and chips in Edinburgh here. We had to wait about 15 to 20 minutes for a table, but it was definitely worth it. We were seated upstairs and given our menus. The restaurant itself is really cute, and we loved the interior. Our waitress was so friendly and made us feel very welcome. One thing we really liked was that you can order either a full or half portion of the fish and chips. Since we wanted to try other dishes as well, the half portion was the perfect option. We loved that idea. The f

Excellent service, even when busy! I had the cider, half portion of fish & chips, and deep fried mars bar, all was very good! It wasn’t cheap, but it was my last meal on holiday, so I didn’t mind spending a bit more. The portion sizes are good as well. The atmosphere was unique and I enjoyed the vibe. It’s definitely touristy, but that’s kinda what I was expecting. I would definitely recommend to people on holiday!

I ended up coming here three times during my trip, and every single visit was great. A few months ago, I tried vegan fish and chips in London for the first time and loved it, so I was excited to see how Edinburgh’s version compared. Thankfully, it did not disappoint! One thing to keep in mind: the portions are huge. We shared one order every time and still left completely stuffed 😅We also tried the vegetarian haggis, which was surprisingly good and definitely worth ordering. The staff were incredibly friendly on every visit. I also really appreciated that tipping is optional and clearly left up

We visited Berties Fish & Chips and really enjoyed our experience. The restaurant is located in a very good and touristic area on a beautiful street, which makes it a great stop while visiting Edinburgh. It was extremely crowded, so making a reservation in advance was definitely a good idea. The atmosphere was lively and quite loud, but despite how busy it was, the service was surprisingly fast and efficient. The fish and chips were delicious, and we also enjoyed the other dishes we ordered. Overall, a very good place for a classic fish and chips meal in the city center.
