Thai Hoang★★★★★Checked out this place after a few recommendations and it was a great place to stop off to enjoy a pint or two along with some live music. Came on a Sunday so the vibe was a lot more chilled, I imagine it gets busier on the fri and sat! Also appreciate the uncanny resemblance/comparison to the LOTR aesthetics
Kay Singh★★★★★Don’t let the exterior fool you, once you push through the doors of Waxy O’Connors, you’re transported into another world! I’d seen reels of this place while prepping for my trip to Scotland, and it was at the top of my must-visit list. It did not disappoint. The multilevel layout and maze-like stairs make it feel like something straight out of Harry Potter or an Elven kingdom from Lord of the Rings. The atmosphere is incredible, partly because the intricate woodwork was actually salvaged from an old church, giving it that gothic, magical feel. The centerpiece is a massive beech tree that span
K Richardson★★★Maybe it is better at night when there is live music and such but went in around 2pm. The bar tender almost seemed inconvenienced to take my order and didn't seem very friendly, maybe she was having a bad day, i dont know. The food was nothing special and over priced for the quality, but the building was really cool and decorations interesting. Just wish it had a better vibe when it came to the people. Maybe the night scene is better and more worth it.
Alba Ihle★★★★★Gorgeous gorgeous place. We call it Rivendell, after Lord of the Rings Rivendell where the elves live, although, to be fair, it’s more like a combination of Rivendell and a hobbit hole without an end. Highly recommend exploring all levels and looking around you, before sitting down and having a nice beer. If I visit Glasgow again I will definitely come back here!
