The make over makes the pub more welcoming. Chairs and tablets are nicely spaced and comfortable. Dog table as you walk in for a water bowl, treat and a blanket. Food was cooked perfectly. Hot went arrived to table and tasty. Cooks were conner and pete. Our waitress was Danielle. Polite and friendly. Loved eating here before the make over and definitely will be coming back (our dog loves her visits).

Made a reservation for 12pm for 4 people but arrived slightly earlier for drinks anyway. Ordered 3 carvery and fish & chips. We were told there would be a slight wait for the fish & chips and they would be brought out at 12.05pm which was fine. At 12.20pm they still hadn't arrived so my partner enquired about the wait to be told there was a problem with the fryer and they were just putting it on. When they arrived about 5mins later it was very greasy at the bottom of the batter and the fish was very watery. I left most of it. Definitely won't be back.

Everyone seemed to like the carvery. I didn't like my pizza personally. I'm not a fan of cranberry sauce. That's on me. I'm sure someone who does like it would have liked the pizza. For a Christmas Eve dinner there wasn't a lot of people eating this time round. I'd say that's good, the pub wasn't crowded that way. I think most who did attend this time will be giving positive reviews so I expect 2026 to be very busy. We'll see how they handle that. Service was better than last year. Good experience overall. Maybe more festive pizza options, none with cranberry sauce. More trifle too.
