I’ve been a fan of Torchy’s since they opened their first food truck on S. First way back when. I’ve been happy to see their growth and I like to stop by their stores whenever and wherever I can. That’s why it’s such a bummer to have to report that this store falls way short of my expectations, in terms of atmosphere, quality, and service. The store is just … shabby. Unclean. Went here for lunch today and unfortunately it was very underwhelming compared to how this location used to be. The restaurant itself looks run down. The bathrooms were in rough shape. The sink had visible, permanent stains, and there was an electrical outlet installed directly underneath the soap dispenser, which doesn’t look like something that would ever pass inspection. Found a large piece of steel wool in her taco during our most recent visit (approx 5pm on Fri, 11 April). To be clear — this isn’t a complaint about food quality or slow service. This is a food safety hazard. Steel wool can cause lacerations to the mouth, throat, and digestive tract. We’ve eaten at Torchy’s many times over the years and this was shocking. I’m leaving this review because people deserve to know, and because this needs to be addressed at a systemic level — not just acknowledged and moved on from.
