ll Porto restaurant in Frederick is a wonderful local Italian restaurant. A first time visit for us and we weren't disappointed. We dined between lunch and dinner times on a Friday afternoon while in town visiting family, ...hence, we were the only patrons for awhile making it a very delightful personal experience and perhaps a bit unrealistic relative to typical normal service and noise level. Walking in to Il Porto, you feel a sense of home. You hear the light classic music playing and are greeted by Catalina. She made us feel welcome from the start. We ordered our lunch, I had the insulata with grilled chicken. It was amazing, every bite was full of flavor. The fresh made bread was outstanding and the espresso to finish it off put the meal at a 10. Check out Il Porto when you are in town, you won't regret it.

So they’re normally fantastic. However, I ordered one of their higher priced items and after tonight I probably won’t be back for a while. I dunno if someone was having a bad day in the kitchen or what but they put a huge amount of mushrooms into the dish, and seriously skimped on the seafood. This is way different from my previous experiences with them but lesson learned. 3 shrimp, 3 tiny scallops, 4.8 ounces of mushrooms. Pasta completely soaked in oil $27. Absurd. I’d be ashamed to serve this to someone for my personal pride alone. Jokes on me I guess.
