Really disappointing experience, especially as the Sunday roast here used to be excellent. The service was poor from start to finish. We ordered the mac and cheese croquettes but were served arancini instead. Staff appeared confused when this was pointed out and simply took the dish away without any explanation or apology. The celeriac remoulade served with the ham starter was unpleasant and poorly prepared, with a texture that looked as though it had been roughly cut up with a spoon. When I walked in to meet a freind for a roast I was greated by who I beleive to be the manager. You could tell she knew I wasn't from around that way so instantly was given the cold shoulder when I approached the bar. I was left stood there for some time before calling my freind to find out where she was. I then went to the table downstairs by the kitchen area. To be told we had a limited time on the table and because there was a few no shows we'd have to change tables. The way thod was addressed was quite patronising and insensitive. Very enjoyable dinner. Good atmosphere and very cosy in the dining area. Staff were lovely the only issue on service was that we waited a long g time for our main course (over 30 minutes after we finished our starters). I think it may have been the roast beef and Yorkshire puddings that held things up.
