If you’ve ever wondered what happens when expectations go on holiday and standards nip out for a quick break too, let me introduce you to my recent visit to McDonald’s in Barnstaple. First up: no milkshakes. Not “machine’s being cleaned” (the classic excuse), just a flat-out milkshake drought. A bold move for a place that basically built part of its empire on them. Then came the drink situation. I ordered a classic Coke. What I received was Diet Coke — which, for most people, is a mild inconvenience. It has been a while since I have eaten a McDonald's breakfast, always liked the Sausage and McMuffin meal. Please see attached pictures of my Sausage McMuffin, the cooking oil was dirty and the McMuffin was smaller than the Sausage!! Totally, unappealing in my opinion! Service was given a 3 because Deliveries seem to take priority over customers waiting in the restaurant.

Danny who works here who absolutely makes this McDonald’s better. He’s incredibly kind, always helpful, and you can tell he genuinely cares about the customers. Even when it gets busy and he’s working up a sweat, he stays positive and warm. Always asks if there is ‘anything else I can get you guys?’. Every visit feels brighter because of him. A true humanitarian. Good job, Danny ❤️😄

I have lived in Barnstaple for over seven years so I’ve been here a lot - layouts have changed etc etc. what I will say is it is amazing, kids accessibility is good so for wheelchair. The only thing is the change from decent quality toys to paper books which ruin the memo a bit. I do not recommend you order online though as McDonald’s is notorious for making food cold before it’s delivered. Flurry machine always works though
