We had a good dining experience in York at The Olive Tree, located right opposite Clifford’s Tower! It made a pleasant backdrop The restaurant wasn’t busy when we attended early Wednesday evening so the service was excellent. Atmosphere reflected the amount of diners but the music created a relaxed environment. We ordered from the set 3 course menu. Now usually you would expect portion sizes to be reduced on this menu but we really couldn’t complain about the quality of food or value for money. Drinks were also reasonably priced considering York prices at more central restaurants.

Had a birthday meal here with the missus (who loves Italian cuisine), and was a little disappointed that the menu was a bit one dimensional, with the mushroom sauce served with almost every dish, and the amount of seafood offered. It didn't quite feel genuinely Italian. But, we spotted the 'Olive Tree Steak',and I have to say, it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Would definitely recommend for the steak alone.

lovely! deserves more hype. It was an extremely warm day and no one including me could be bothered, but i still recieved a delicious meal extremely quickly and for a low price. service was lovely. It was extremely quiet- I was mostly the only one there which was a shame, deserves more customers.

A sausage and pepperoni calzone for me. My wife has the filetto stroganoff. With a beer and a glass of Coke £52.50 in total. The food was delicious and the friendly service from Safa and Sop was excellent. With a view of Clifford's Tower as the sun sets. I am such a romantic 😍 💕
